Wai Care working with the Department of Statistics

Wai Care
Department of Statistics, The University of Auckland

Wai Care is a water quality monitoring, education and action programme for community groups and schools in the Auckland region. In partnership between councils and communities, Wai Care groups are trained to monitor water and habitat quality. The ultimate goal of Wai Care is to restore waterway health.

Sue Wood is a Royal Society Teacher Fellow (2005) working on a data confidence approach for Wai Care, jointly hosted by Wai Care (North Shore City) and The University of Auckland.

Sue has investigated ways of improving Wai Care data management processes for community and school groups that monitor the health of streams in the Auckland region.

She took the course STATS 708 which was beneficial to her as a secondary mathematics teacher and helped her develop a programme for Wai Care.
