MISSION
The mission of the International Statistical Literacy Project (ISLP) is to provide those interested in statistical literacy with information and resources and to aid them in the development of statistical literacy around the world.  It replaces the World Numeracy Project of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).

At present the main focus on the project is on the development of a series of webpages that will provide users with resources that are useful for the development of statistical literacy at all levels from Primary/Elementary School through Adult Learners. There are also webpages for official statisticians and for journalists and the mass media. Further, there are webpages devoted statistical literacy projects, websites, etc. that have been developed by national statistical offices, national statistical societies, and other non-profit organizations .  A listing of these webpages is at http://course1.winona.edu/cblumberg/islplist.htm. The webpages have been developed by page coordinators who are experts in statistical literacy. A listing of the page coordinators is at http://course1.winona.edu/cblumberg/islpcoord.htm.

HOW TO BEST ACCESS THE ISLP PAGES
There are two main ways to access the ISLP Pages.  The first way is to go to http://course1.winona.edu/cblumberg/islplist.htm and click on the link to the page(s) of interest to you.  You may also use the search engine at the top of each webpage to find resources on a particular topic.

WHO WE ARE
The International Statistical Literacy Project is under the auspices of the International Association for Statistical Education (IASE), a section of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).  It is overseen jointly by the Executive Committee of the IASE and the ISLP Advisory Committee. For the History of the ISLP and the World Numeracy Project, see http://course1.winona.edu/cblumberg/islphist.htm

The present coordinator of the ISLP is Carol Joyce Blumberg (cblumberg@winona.edu), Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Winona State University, Winona MN 55987-5838, USA.  Tel: ++1-507-457-5589  Fax: ++1-507-457-5376.  Each of the webpages on this website has coordinators.  The list of page coordinators is at http://course1.winona.edu/cblumberg/islpcoord.htm

HOW YOU CAN HELP
When looking at the various webpages, if you see incorrect or missing information or have suggestions for additional resources, please contact the page coordinator(s) at the email addresses provided near the top of their respective webpages.  You may also send any suggestions regarding the webpages or the ISLP to Carol Blumberg (see above for contact information).  Any suggestions for resources that should be added to the website are very much appreciated.  We are especially interested in resources in languages other than English.

This webpage and its associated webpages are coordinated and maintained by Carol Blumberg and Tasfia Ahmed (a third-year student in Chemistry.). Nicole Machacek (a graduate of Winona State University in Communication Studies) helped with maintenance of the webpages from September 2002 to May 2004 and Robert Spencer (a fourth year student at Winona State University in Computer Science) helped with maintenance from May 2004 to February 2005.  The server space for these webpages has been donated by Winona State University. We also wish to thank Barry Peratt, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Winona State University for giving generously of his time and providing technical advice when needed.

NOTE
Since CAUSE (
The Consortium for the Advancement of Undergraduate Education) has developed a website of resources for the post-secondary level, it has been decided to not include a list of post-secondary resources on this website.  Of course, several of the lists here have many resources relevant to the post-secondary level (especially those on secondary level resources, training teachers, adult learners, and on datasets).  The CAUSE website is at http://www.causeweb.org/ .
