This section is only concerned with the syntax of the SQL
SELECT command, which is used to perform a database query.
Within this chapter, any code written in a sans-serif oblique font
represents a general template; that part of the code
will vary depending on the database in use and the names
of the tables as well as the names of the columns within those tables.
