Aug 29 2005

I have posted version 1 of the 2004 term test on the web page. You can use this to practice the test under exam conditions (ie not knowing what the correct answer is). Also, I will be having office hours on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings of next week from 10 to 12 in Rm 228. Yossie will also be avalable in Room B08, next to the Assistance Room on Thursday Sept 8 from 1-3 and Friday Sept 9 ,11-1.

Sept 13 2005

Don't forget the test on Thursday, in class at 9am. I have moved the due date for assignment 1 back to Tuesday Sept 20 at 4pm.

Some of you have been asking about all.poss.regs. Here is something to try.

If at home, download the leaps package from the CRAN website. Choose Set Cran M irror, then Install packages from the packages menu in R. Then just use the function all.poss.regs.

If in the lab things are a bit more complex: download the leaps package by quitting R, go to the CRAN website, (follow link from stats home page), download the leaps package, put it somewhere in your favourite folder, then unzip it.

Then, copy the file "R330.txt" of 330 functions from the web page to your favourite folder. Edit the file by deleting the line that says library(leaps). (use the search function in your editor to find the line). Load the functions into R (use source).

Then, before you do all.pos.regs, use something like library(leaps, lib.loc="C:\\Documents and Settings\\alee\\My Documents\\Teaching\\330")

You will have to replace the argument to lib.loc with the path of your folder.

Sept 22 2005

Assignment 4 is now available on the Web page and Cecil. The due date is Sept 29, but I will extend this until the following Tuesday if necessary. Most of the material to do the assignment will be covered in class by the end of next Tuesday's lecture.

Sept 28 2005

The deadline for assignment 4 is now officially October 4! Model answers for assignment 3 are posted. Code used in lecture 25 is also available on the web site. Look on assignments page, by Ass 4.

October 4 2005

Dont forget that Assignment 4 is due today. Assignment 5 is posted. The material you will need to do this assignment is contained in lectures 26 (For Question 1) and 27 (for Question 2).

October 6 2005

Message from Class rep Robyn Drake: - I am arranging to have breakfast of cold filled croissants with various fillings and English breakfast muffins with grilled cheese and tomato provided for us during the lecture on Wednesday 19 October. - Although AUSA funds most of it, they require each student partaking of it to contribute $1. - I will need this money in cash by Tuesday 11 October (find me during lectures or in the labs or anywhere else you might happen to see me...). Thanks, Robyn Drake
