Statistics Education Research Journal (SERJ)
ISSN:  1570-1824

This is the FREE electronic journal of the International Association for Statistical Education (IASE) and the International Statistical Institute (ISI).  Its homepage is at http://www.stat.auckland.ac.nz/serj.

Editors: Iddo Gal ( iddo@research.haifa.ac.il) and Flavia Jolliffe (F.Jolliffe@ukc.ac.uk

The Statistics Education Research Journal is published jointly by the International Association for Statistical Education and the International Statistical Institute to encourage research activity in statistics education, advance knowledge about students' attitudes, conceptions, and difficulties as regards stochastic knowledge and improving the teaching of statistics at all educational levels. The journal encourages the submission of quality papers, including research reports, theoretical or methodological analyses and integrative literature surveys, that can advance scholarly knowledge, research methods, and educational practice in any of the broad areas related to statistical education or learning of statistics and probability at all educational levels and in all educational contexts. Contributions in English are recommended. Contributions in French and Spanish will also be accepted. All papers are blind-refereed by at least two external referees

The Statistics Education Research Journal replaces the “Newsletter of the IASE Statistical Research Group” (published in 2000 and 2001) and its predecessor, the “Newsletter of the International Study Group for Research on Learning Probability and Statistics” (published starting in 1987).  Copies of these newsletters since 1996 are at http://www.stat.auckland.ac.nz/~iase/publications.php?show=serj#archives.

IASE Component of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) Newsletter

The “ISI Newsletter” is issued three times a year and gives information on the activities of the ISI and its sections (IASE, International Association for Official Statistics, Bernoulli Society (for Mathematical Statistics and Probability), International Association of Survey Statisticians, and International Association for Statistical Computing).  Each section of ISI, including IASE, is allocated pages in each issue of the Newsletter.  The IASE Component of the “ISI Newsletter” includes notices of conferences, meetings and other similar activities, updates on IASE activities, short reports on other initiatives in statistical education, etc. The remaining pages of the "ISI Newsletter" allow the reader to keep in touch with the latest developments in statistics and the activities of ISI itself and of other ISI sections.  All IASE members receive hardcopies of the “ISI Newsletter”.  Electronic copies of the IASE Component from 1991 to 1993 (and of its predecessor the "International Statistical Education Newsletter") are at http://course1.winona.edu/cblumberg/isinews.htm.  Electronic copies of the IASE Component of the ISI Newsletter from February 2000 to the November 2001 are at http://www.swin.edu.au/maths/iase/newsletters.html .  Electronic copies of the November 2001 and all of the 2002 and 2003 issues of the complete  “ISI Newsletter” , including the IASE Component, are at http://www.cbs.nl/isi/newsltr.htm

It is published three times a year.  It publishes papers of broad interest to all statisticians. More information, including rates, tables of contents for all issues since April 2000 and on submission of manuscripts to ISR, is at http://www.cbs.nl/isi/isr.htm

A list of statistics education articles published since April 1995 in the International Statistical Review is a located at http://course1.winona.edu/cblumberg/articles.htm

The International Statistical Review is now available on-line via Project Euclid (PE), a partnership of independent of mathematics and statistics journals that is designed to address the unique needs of low-cost independent and society journals. For rates for electronic access see http://www.cbs.nl/isi/euclid.htm#1ISReview .  Project Euclid is a non-profit electronic journal publishing initiative of the Cornell University Library. These abstracts provide valuable information on new developments in all fields of probability theory, estimation, linear models, stochastic processes, operations research, testing of hypothesis, experimental design and time series analysis. Each year approximately 6,000 abstracts are published summarizing articles from journals of all parts of the world. The abstracts are classified according to a scheme providing a nested classification of 16 main sections that are further subdivided into 300 subsections in all.  Although the emphasis in STMA is on mathematical statistics and probability, some articles relevant to statistics education are reviewed each year.
